The first foundations of this monument with a modest-sized date back to the 13th century. It was completely restored inside and outside in 1998. A few greatest crosses were placed in front of the entrance formerly according to ancient engravings.
The chapel comes from the Latin word Capella, it would be related for some specialists to the cape worn by some of our bishops like that of St. Martin. Some 12th-century chapels in the region were part of a group of buildings dedicated to the functioning of a religious community. The chapel existed long before the cemetery.
